A Wonderful Day At Travers Park
We had a most enjoyable and productive day at Travers Park this past Sunday (August 13th). The undersigned was there with our summer intern Syed Rahman, and Indigenouspat. Our message was threefold:
- First it was a "Hello World" occasion. We flew our new 10' banner to announce that the Jackson Heights Wiki is working.
- We handed out flyers encouraging residents to Share What You Know and post new pages or edit existing ones. We've nearly 200 pages at this point. (Many can use additional detail: There's work to be done!)
- We sought those who might be interested in having a say in how the wiki and the organization overseeing its operation work. We're having a meeting on the topic, our governance process next month. Let me know if you're interested.
Our intern Syed completes his work this week and is heading off to Vanderbilt University. Of the dozen or so interns I've had over the decades he was perhaps the best. I expect great things of him.
Finally, a big thank you to Syed, and all those who stopped by to learn about our operation and to wish us well.
