"Aging in place" is a term used to describe arrangements that enable residents to continue living in the residence of their choice, for as long as they are able, as they age. These arrangements include being able to have services or other support they might need over time as their needs change. Aging in Place takes place in e Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities Norcs.

Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCs) facilitate "Ageing In Place" providing important services and a high quality of life for seniors. It's been suggested that blockchain technology can facilitate social capital identification and exchange, facilitating an accounting of tasks undertaken.

State Senator Peralta secured a $2 million appropriation in this year’s State budget to fund these type of programs. On April 13, 2017 Senator Jose Peralta said:

A substantial number of senior citizens live in housing complexes and high-density apartment buildings, right alongside other seniors. Using this funding, the neighborhood offer a commonsense approach to delivering medical and quality of life programs to areas of the District with a high concentration of senior residents. NORCs provide stability for senior citizens, and help with access to important healthcare that is always increasing in price.

Beyond such funding, a supportive community needs to be created. Creative use of civic currency, like that enabled by blockchain technology can assist here.
