This "public" access distinction is needed in Jackson Heights as many of the residential co-op buildings have private gardens, accessible only to building residents. This page takes a broad definition of parks, listing traditional public parks and spaces that enable public access. This "public" access distinction is needed in Jackson Heights as many of the residential co-op buildings have private gardens, accessible only to building residents. The park contains swings, sitting areas, several full basketball courts, handball courts, a boccie court, and play equipment. The park’s most outstanding facility is the handicap accessible softball field. The field, which is the only one of its kind in Queens, features wider bases and base paths modified for wheelchair access.

Diversity Plaza

This unique public space on 37th Road between 73th and 74th Streets was created in 2012 as the consequence of a traffic reorientation. A design has been selected for its development with construction expected to begin in the summer of 2017.
