Cambridge Court, 37-49 85th Street, Jackson Heights Historic District, Jackson Heights, Queens

Cambridge Court, built in 1922 to designs by George H. Wells, is one of the early large, through-the-block, garden apartment complexes in Jackson Heights. It is the latest of the architect's projects located within the historic district. Occupying most of the block, the complex of fourteen four-story-and-basement buildings, each with a modified T-shaped plan, has seven attached buildings along each blockfront which are situated back-to-back across a common landscaped garden at the interior of the block.
